Build Support for The Save Our Climate Act

Invite organizations, businesses, faith communities and people of influence to support the Save Our Climate Act

The Save Our Climate Act (H.R. 3242) is the focal point for our efforts to build support for a revenue-neutral tax on carbon.

Before members of Congress commit to supporting H.R. 3242, they want to know if there is support out there for this legislation. That's why we're circulating a letter of support for the Save Our Climate  Act. In your community and state, ask organizations, businesses, faith communities, and people of influence to sign on to a letter of support for the Save Our Climate Act.

When an organization or person of influence agrees to sign on, forward the confirmation to Steve Valk at steve.valk@citizensclimatelobby.org

When we have a significant number of signatures, we will go public with the letter of support, perhaps with a press conference.

During our lobbying visits in July on Capitol Hill, we will use this letter of support when we ask members of Congress to co-sponsor H.R. 3242.

Want to lobby with us this summer? Register for our conference here.

Laser Talk: What to say when asking for organizations to sign our letter of support

As we saw from the record number of weather-related disasters last year – floods, droughts and fires -- climate change is already having an impact on our world.

The International Energy Agency has warned that we have five years to start reducing greenhouse gas emissions before the global warming process becomes unmanageable.

The best way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, especially carbon dioxide, is to make the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy. Doing this will also create millions of jobs in clean energy and energy efficiency.

We can speed up this transition by placing a gradually-rising fee on carbon-based fuels that motivates private-sector investments in wind, solar and other clean technology. Returning revenue from the carbon fee to consumers will shield households from the economic impact of rising energy costs.

The Save Our Climate Act (H.R. 3242) would do all this. But as we ask members of Congress to support this legislation, they ask the question: Who supports this bill? And so, we are asking organizations, faith communities, businesses and people of influence to sign on to a letter of support for H.R. 3242.

Can you or your organization sign the letter?
