SAM DALEY HARRIS, Founder and President of RESULTS.

I met Sam over the telephone in 1994 when we were being interviewed by KPBS public radio in San Diego. On that call I was amazed to learn that Sam and his organization RESULTS had successfully lobbied the government to fund $300 million for micocredit loans over the previous three years. That is when the power of ordinary citizens lobbying their government began to dawn on me. Separately, The Microcredit Summit Campaign, which Sam founded and directs, created a global context that has been instrmental in providing loans to 100 million of the worlds poorest families. Sam directs, guides and challenges me in our weekly calls."  Marshall Saunders, Founder of CCL

Dr. James E. Hansen

When I first became alarmed by the deteriorating climate, I saw a quote by Dr. James E. Hansen, “If politicians remain at loggerheads, citizens must lead.”   Of course that describes exactly what Citizens Climate Lobby is about.   I put the quote on our first brochure.

Dr. Hansen is the planet’s great hero.  He has all the credentials one could ask for in a leader on the climate.  But here’s the big thing, he doesn’t let the credentials and his position stop him from saying the truth, risking everything.  His is a clear voice that we heard way across the country in San Diego.

And he is constant.  He doesn’t go away.  He’s been saying the truth for decades, out loud, in the scientific and popular publications and in Congress.  He has been a speaker on our National Call and at our International Conference.

Ed Law, Retired Businessman; Treasurer of Grameen de la Frontera

"Ed and I met at the Rotary Club in 1993. I gave a talk seeking funding for a village bank in Honduras. Ed and his wife Betty funded it by themselves and went with me to hand out the loans. We have been close friends ever since. Together he and I founded, Grameen de la Frontera, a micocredit lender in Sonora, Mexico. We have made loans to more than 15,000 very poor women, in the rural areas of southern Sonora. I consult with Ed on many decisions big and small and we speak by telephone daily. I am seventy-one and Ed is my elderly mentor at eighty-seven"
