Start a Group

Starting Your CCL Community Group

STEP 1: Request an Inviting Team Meeting

An Inviting Team Meeting brings together five of your community members for an initial phone call. The purpose of the meeting is to understand the CCL mission, model and responsibilities in context of your community and group’s interest. The group makes a commitment to host a Group Start meeting in the community.

STEP 2: Organize a Group Start Meeting

The purpose of the Group Start Meeting is to experience the profound difference people can make by empowering and inspiring their Members of Congress and the media. During this session, participants learn how to create political will. The purpose is also to form a Citizens Climate Lobby of at least five like-minded people who are eager to lobby their elected officials and the media on Climate Legislation.

CCL Group Activities

  • A Group Meeting each month is held on the first Saturday from 9:45 to 11:45 AM Pacific.  The primary feature is a National Conference call with a guest speaker who expands our volunteers' knowledge on climate change and legislation to address climate change.  In addition we learn and practice a laser talk and take an action such as writing to members of Congress or letters to the editor.
  • Groups schedule appointments to meet with their members of Congress or their staff to discuss the climate change issue and legislative solutions.
