Spanish Website Administrator and Translator
Tami has long been a seeker of game-changing solutions to humanity’s complex problems. She came to CCL through Pachamama Alliance and began volunteering in Boston in 2014. Six months later, life moved her to Panama to found the non-profit organization One Common Heart with indigenous Emberá colleagues. Within that year, she launched a CCL chapter in Panama City, the first in Latin America. This required translating copious materials into Spanish, adapting them to the local social and political environment, and building a website, which she accomplished thanks to CCL’s relentless empowerment and support. Under her leadership, CCL Panama influenced the International Maritime Organization’s climate ambition, educated and inspired Catholic youth during Pope Francis’ visit at the World Youth Day, and in August 2019 proudly held the first CCL Lobby Day in Latin America. She created and maintains CCE’s principal Spanish language website, ClimaVivible.org, translates materials for volunteers, and supports the Latinos Action Team. She also co-coordinates the Latin America Region, encouraging and supporting volunteer and chapter development throughout the Americas and the Caribbean.
In school, Tami studied linguistics and medicine. She has worked as an emergency physician in urban Latino communities in the northeast U.S.; and later as a professional sailor both on antique sailing vessels and for community sailing programs, offering education and empowerment through teamwork, adventure, and love of the sea. She also thrives on scuba diving, cycling, backpacking, and partner dancing.
