Brett has been volunteering with CCL since 2011. He serves as Vice President of Programs where he strives to develop learning pathways that create the most empowered and informed citizen lobbyists possible.

Brett began his career in northern Minnesota as a wilderness program director and lead instructor for several outdoor education non-profits including Outward Bound. Connecting civic engagement with democratic participation and issues-based advocacy, Brett has taught undergraduate policy courses, high school social studies, and campus sustainability with dual master’s degrees in Education and Legislative Studies, and a PhD in Public Policy/Political Economy.

Brett lives in Duluth, MN and always looks forward to the next local ultimate frisbee game, time with his beautiful wife, dusting off his cello, fishing on the river, and home brewing craft beer.
