What is Lobby Day?
Every summer, CCLers from all across America head to Washington, D.C. for our annual Summer Conference and Lobby Day. After a day of education and training, we mobilize, taking hundreds of meetings on Capitol Hill.
Grassroots citizens enter Congressional offices ready to talk policy with our elected representatives.
When our volunteers meet with Congress, they don’t speak just for themselves, but for thousands of constituents back home. You may not be in the room, but your voice can still be part of the conversation.
Call Congress on July 27 and say: I support clean energy solutions and stand with the citizen lobbyists visiting Capitol Hill this week.
When hundreds of volunteers lobby Congress and thousands more call from across the country, lawmakers hear the same message from all directions. Our goal is simple: 2,500 calls in 24 hours. Be one of them.
What are CCLers asking Congress today?
CCL volunteers are meeting with members of Congress today to ask for a series of policies that support America’s clean energy transition. These policies will protect our climate while providing reliable and affordable power:
Permitting bottlenecks are holding back American energy. Meeting America’s future energy needs will require doubling or even tripling transmission capacity—something we can’t do without serious permitting reform. Permitting reform should be done responsibly—streamlining project approvals while preserving community input and upholding the integrity of our core environmental protections. We urge Congress to resume bipartisan efforts towards permitting reform. We need to finalize a bipartisan permitting package that can be signed into law.
Decades of poor land management practices have left countless acres of federal land susceptible to drought and wildfire. The Fix Our Forests Act (FOFA) protects lives, livelihoods, and lands by removing regulatory barriers, providing the Forest Service with additional emergency authorities, and investing in new technology to help prevent wildfires and protect our forests and communities We urge Congress to support the advancement of the Fix Our Forests Act through any viable legislative pathway.
Several proposals from the current Administration threaten to cut Forest Service staffing, research capacity, and readiness. A fully resourced Forest Service helps keep forests healthy, resilient, and able to continue serving as a vital carbon sink while preventing wildfires that release massive amounts of climate pollution. We urge Congress to fully fund the U.S. Forest Service in FY2027 appropriations bills — spending bills that authorize the government to allocate money to fund specific departments, agencies, and programs.
