About Efaon
Prior to his role at the ACLU-SDIC as deputy legal director (where he is currently), Efaon (E-Fawn) was devoted to representing working people in a wide range of employment and labor law matters. His practice included vigorously representing employees against harassment and discrimination, such as sexual, gender-based, racial, disability, sexual orientation, as well as others, and wrongful termination and retaliation. Efaon also assisted union negotiations and represented unions and members in grievances and National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) matters. He previously worked as a staff attorney at the Unite Here Local 30 Union, where he produced research and strategic analysis, coordinated the wage and hour claims of workers being organized at two major San Diego hotels, and assisted with the day-to-day legal needs of the union.
Efaon started his legal career practicing plaintiff‐side tort law. While working at the San Diego Fire Lawyers, a partnership of law firms representing victims of the 2007 San Diego County wildfires, Efaon worked with a team of attorneys representing clients who had lost homes, businesses, and other property and experienced severe traumatic events because of the wildfires. The San Diego Fire Lawyers was the largest single plaintiff group in the 2007 wildfires litigation, one of the largest torts matters ever litigated in the California courts.
Efaon earned his B.A. in computer science at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and his J.D. at the University of San Diego School of Law. He is a member of the Inns of Court (Welsh Chapter) as a barrister, as well as the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego.
Originally from Las Vegas, Efaon now happily lives in San Diego with his amazing partner and their beautiful family members, both furry and non-furry. Efaon enjoys all things nerd culture, including sci-fi and fantasy (i.e. Star Trek, D&D, and comics), is a huge foodie, and loves playing basketball.
