National climate organization now offers ASL interpretation at monthly event

March 11, 2022 – Beginning this weekend, Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) will now offer ASL interpretation on its monthly organizing call for grassroots volunteers nationwide. Interpreting services will be provided by Civic Access, a Deaf-owned organization.

Christina McMurry offers a critical service, and we’re grateful to them and their team for working with us to create a more accessible space and provide effective communication for Deaf and hard of hearing folks who are part of the climate advocacy community,” said Patricia Rubio, CCL Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator.

CCL’s monthly call takes place every second Saturday of the month on Zoom at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT. CCL volunteers and other viewers dial in via Zoom to hear the latest updates from our organization’s climate work, actions they can take in the upcoming month, and a message from a guest speaker. Anyone interested in learning more about Citizens’ Climate Lobby’s work can join the call at cclusa.org/meeting.

“We’re thrilled to add this feature to our monthly calls so that members of the Deaf community can engage more fully with climate advocacy,” said Don Addu, CCL Senior Director of Programs. “Grassroots climate organizing is stronger and more effective when every American is included and can participate in pushing our elected leaders for action.”
