Citizens' Climate Lobby Chapter

Nashville

Nashville, Tennessee
June 11, 2019 Lobby Day ... Citizen Lobbyists Donna Campbell, Katherine Bomboy and Elizabeth Larnerd (L-R) met with Representative Cooper to encourage his co-sponsorship of HR 763
About Our Chapter

CCL-Nashville is a concerned group of citizens from middle Tennessee, just one of hundreds of CCL chapters across the world, working to create the political will for a livable world

Nashville Climate Warriors… we believe that now is the right time to join together and take action and we think we can have fun while doing it!  This is our call to arms… our tools are CCL’s values and incredible resources, human and otherwise.  But our real source of strength is a group of concerned, passionate citizens that are willing to devote some of their most important asset, their time, to educate other Tennesseans about HR 763, use their agency to advocate on its behalf and/or support the efforts of other CCL volunteers

Regular monthly meetings are held the second Saturday each month, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Goodwill Lifsey Building, 937 Herman Street, Nashville, TN 37208.  NOTE:  THE OCTOBER POTLUCK IN THE PARK, OCT. 5 @ 11 A.M. WILL SERVE AS THE OCTOBER MONTHLY MEETING.  LOCATION: EDWIN WARNER PARK, PAVILION 11.

There are so many ways to contribute to this effort!  We welcome you to join our Chapter.  Or reach out to us for a presentation to your organization!  If you reach out to us, we are going to reach back out to you.  That’s what a community does!  Together, we can do this for Tennessee.

About HR 763 – Energy Innovation Act
This is the right bill to make sure that Tennessean’s continue to breathe clean air, enjoy revenue and jobs from a booming tourism industry, and reduce the human and financial health care costs associated with pollution and climate change.  Tennessee is a conservative state and HR 763 is a conservative, free-market approach with a border adjustment to level trade.  The bill prices CO2 emissions at the source(something we already measure) and returns a monthly dividend (the IRS can do this for a 2% max fee) to households.  2.1 million jobs will be created.  CO2will be reduced by 40% in the first 12 years.   Over 3,000 economists have endorsed the concept encompassed by HR 763 … 3,000!  And momentum continues to build with a carbon fee blessing by The Pope and, as of June 12, 2019, the day after CCL’s Lobby Day, Tennessee has its first co-sponsor of the bill, Representative Cohen (D-Memphis) … a first-hand example that individual voices do matter!

About Citizens’ Climate Lobby

Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy organization empowering people to experience breakthroughs exercising their personal and political power.

CCL is laser focused on HR 763, the Energy Innovation Act, the climate change solution economists and climate scientists alike say is the “best first-step” to preventing the worst impacts of a warming world.  This market-based Carbon Fee and Dividend policy will drastically reduce emissions, create jobs, and support small businesses and families — all without growing government.

CCL has seen firsthand how passionate citizens who are well-trained, organized by district, and with a good system of support can more than influence the political process.  Let’s guide HR 763 through to passage.

Tennessee is the volunteer state.  Tennessee volunteers can lead the way to a sustainable climate for our future.
