Vice President of People & Culture
Karina Ramirez (She/Her/Ella) is CCL’s Vice President of People & Culture. Before this role, she served as Diversity & Inclusion Director since 2020. In her job, she supports volunteers and staff working toward inclusion and belonging efforts in her role. She leads staff-level diversity and inclusion education, training, and national initiatives. She has supported the creation of several affinity teams at CCL, including the most recent Faith Community, as well as Latinos, People of the Global Majority, Climate & Culture, Asian Pacific, LGBTQIA+, and Allies Outreach, Listening to Indigenous Voices, and the Diversity and Inclusion Action Teams. Karina leads the National Inclusion Team, a group of 10-12 volunteers, fellows, and interns interested in diversity and inclusion work at CCL and in the planning of the virtual Inclusion Conference hosted each September.
Karina also supervises CCL’s Spanish-language efforts through our website (climavivible.org) and its social media accounts @cclclimavivible in Spanish on Instagram, Facebook, and Blueky and @ccl.latinos on Instagram in English.
Before her work with CCL, Karina spent a decade as a multimedia journalist for diverse audiences in Dallas, Texas. Her news stories ranged from local news to business and immigration topics. For her work, she received many recognitions from the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors Association and the Society of Professional Journalists in Fort Worth, Texas. Karina holds a Master’s in Journalism from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor’s in International Studies from American University.
Karina is originally from Ecuador and resides in Honolulu, HI. She invites everyone to learn more about land acknowledgements, especially as recommended by the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
