Citizens' Climate Lobby Chapter
Atlanta (Intown), Georgia
About Our Chapter
Hi! Thanks for checking out the Atlanta chapter of CCL. Led by Henry Slack and Dan May, we're a group of committed Atlantans who want to see Congress take action on climate change--and we're lobbying them to make it happen.
Each month, we get together to discuss our lobbying efforts with Rep. John Lewis, Rep. Hank Johnson, Sen. David Perdue, and Sen. Johnny Isakson. We also celebrate our success in local media, such as letters we've published in the AJC, and plan outreach efforts at fun events in the community, like Atlanta Streets Alive. We'd love for you to join us at our next meeting to learn more!
Here's our meeting info:
Date: Second Saturday of each month
Time: 11:15 - 2 (If you'd like to show up at 11 for coffee and to chat, we'd love to have you!)
Location: Atlanta Friends Meeting (Quakers), 701 W. Howard Avenue, Decatur (about a half-mile from East Lake MARTA Station) [Note: this is a change from our previous meeting space.)
What to bring: We do a casual sandwich potluck for lunch, so feel free to bring a lunch item to share. You can also bring a laptop or tablet so it’s easier to type up letters to the editor or to Congress.
Just like hundreds of CCL chapters across the country, We are laser focused on a specific piece of legislation: the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act. This is the climate solution economists and climate scientists alike say is the “best first step” to preventing the worst impacts of a warming world. Our market-based Carbon Fee and Dividend policy is effective, good for people, and good for the economy as well, building jobs across the country. Best of all, it has bipartisan support!
