Volunteer opportunities in Evansville, IN

Join the Citizens’ Climate Lobby Evansville Chapter

Evansville & southwest Indiana, Indiana
Citizens' Climate Lobby is a nonpartisan, nonprofit,  grassroots environmental group that trains and supports volunteers to build relationships with their elected representatives in order to influence climate policy. The Evansville chapter has members from several different counties in southwest Indiana. We work together to help create the political will for a livable world.

CCL supports carbon pricing because it is the most powerful and efficient strategy available to reduce emissions. If the U.S. enacted such a policy and paired it with a dividend (cash-back) program to return the sums collected to American families, it would protect people in lower- and middle-income groups from an increase in costs due to the fees. Climate scientists and
economists say carbon pricing is the “best first-step” to preventing the worst impacts of a warming world. CCL's market-based carbon fee and dividend policy would quickly drive down emissions, create jobs, and reduce healthcare costs without growing government.

The Evansville chapter is responsible for developing and maintaining long-term relationships with our 8th District Congressional representative to promote climate policy, and works with other Indiana CCL chapters to lobby our U.S. senators. Our chapter also works to foster relationships with local community and business leaders and the media. Our chapter hosts events, writes letters to the editor, gives presentations, and organizes tables at community events to increase public awareness about climate change and to show people how they can influence climate policy.

The Evansville chapter meets alternately at noon or 3:00 p.m. Central time on the Monday after the second Saturday of every month, by Zoom. To find out about our next meeting or event, please email: .
