Citizens' Climate Lobby Chapter

Milwaukee West

About Our Chapter
The Milwaukee West chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby meets in Wauwatosa, WI, just to the west of Milwaukee. Members join us from Milwaukee, Elm Grove, Brookfield and other suburbs as well as Milwaukee and Wauwatosa.

Our chapter may be the only one in CCL that meets in a drum studio! Tom Gill, a neighbor of group leader Mike Arney, teaches hand drum lessons in his studio at 72nd and State, which the group uses for our monthly meetings.

The chapter is small, and mostly focuses on the fifth congressional district, currently (2016) represented by Jim Sensenbrenner. In this we work closely with the Jefferson County chapter. We make a real effort to show up at a good number of Mr. Sensenbrenner's many town hall meetings, and remind him that we want to see good, market-based legislation to strongly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We have also been pretty successful at getting letters and a few op-eds published in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Lately our chapter has been bolstered by several energetic members of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, who have a community in Elm Grove and a University in Wauwatosa (Mount Mary). In May 2016, Sister Paul-Mary organized a talk on "The Catholic Response to Global Warming", attended by over 120 people.

Thanks for your interest in our group! We look forward to hearing from you if you would like to join us.
