Research Coordinator
Rick Knight’s mission as Research Coordinator is to work with the VP of Strategy, other Research Coordinators, and independent experts to strengthen CCE’s science, technology, and policy fundamentals. Rick’s portfolio includes writing blog posts, responding to volunteer questions in his areas of expertise, curating white papers, analyzing legislative text, and managing analytical projects that will help our volunteers perform at their very best.
Prior to joining the CCE team, Rick completed a 40-year career in energy and pollution control research at the Gas Technology Institute, retiring in 2016 as an Institute Engineer. Rick was one of the first CCL members in the Chicago area in 2011, founded the IL West Suburban Cook County chapter in 2012, and served as a State Coordinator from 2015 to 2018. He received a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1975 and later studied chemical engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Rick enjoys fishing for smallmouth bass, reading about science (both fiction and fact), and fixing up his old house in Brookfield, Illinois where he lives with his wife Debbie.
