We Did It—Citizens’ Climate Lobby’s Voice is Getting Louder!

At the beginning of March, we kicked off a campaign to raise $17,000 in new monthly donations for Citizens’ Climate Lobby, which would allow us to hire two experienced congressional liaisons to join our Washington, D.C. staff. I knew this would be a heavy lift — after all, when our campaign began, we only had $14,000 in regular monthly donations. What’s more, that $14,000 was for Citizens’ Climate Education, meaning that all gifts are tax-deductible; the new donations would be for CCL, which offers no such tax advantage to donors.

Nevertheless, an organization growing as fast as ours absolutely has to add new staff if we’re going to amplify the voices and actions of volunteers in the way they deserve. So, as CCL always does, we set the goal based on what we knew we had to do instead of on what would be easy.

By the end of the day Tuesday, your incredibly generous support brought us across the finish line! I can not tell you how grateful I am for your donations, and for recruiting others to donate to this campaign as well. Thank you!

We’ll let you know as soon as these positions are filled. I have no doubt that these new staffers are going to make a terrific contribution to our work together—and that they’ll be as blown away by our fiercely committed volunteer base as I always am.
